E A S T _ type
The project E A S T is an exploration of my personal
connection (disconnection?) with the landscape which surrounded me
growing up in an Easter European living block district.
Soc-realism and brutalist style architecture evoke a weird sense
of familiarity and belonging, while the buildings' visual language
remains derived of sentimentality.
After leaving for a longer period of time, the nature of
this place started to shift towards hostility and transfer to
exist mainly in my memory. It became more subjective as the act of
remembering blurs and highlights details selectively, but it also
became more objective as the place lost its primary role in
defining my identity. I created this set of letters through mixing
together my own photo documentation, AI generated content and 3D
models, to achieve a process which strips and shapes the visuals
though both sentimental and calculated intervension.

Instect typography
Ips Typographus is a type of wood lice, named after its talent in
design. I have collected wood pieces affected by the insect's
letter design activity, and preserved these sticks as if they were
.ttf files.
Found typography is a method which has the potential to grow
into a bigger project: centering non-human creators in a field
which seemingly ties strongly to literacy. The marks resembles
human calligraphy, but preserve semantic meanings of their own, as
they contain unique information for species which encounter it.

Letter X
The animation was created through printing the frames with a
risograph printer, then letting the imperfections of the print
create a noisy texture.
The project was created as part of a typoraphy challenge
initiated by the Budapest Design Week.

Type Sketches
I have way too many sketchbooks, but there is one I actually
use.
Here are some sketches from 2023-2024.
